- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon chili powder optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 garlic bread rolls store-bought or homemade
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Make the Sloppy Joe Filling:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain the excess fat.
Add diced onions and garlic to the skillet and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, and optional chili powder. Season with salt and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
Prepare the Garlic Bread Rolls:
While the sloppy joe mixture simmers, arrange your garlic bread rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
Optional: Lightly toast the garlic bread rolls in the oven for about 5 minutes to make them slightly crispy.
Assemble the Bake:
Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over each garlic bread roll, making sure to cover them generously.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Bake:
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
